GRAB your Dreams

Whenever I hear phrases like “Its my dream to….” , “it was like a dream come true…”, I often wonder why dreams hold such a lot of sentimental value. Maybe it is because they are born with Imagination, a place where the human mind has no fear and restrictions. Or maybe they hold a lot of value as they are attributed to the highest levels of one’s achievements. My flow of thoughts brought me to another perspective which is, Dreams are achieved only by a handful of determined people willing to go all the way.

While most of the dreamers either back off with the mere thought of the hardships, some of them lose their way due lack of results even after hard work. I’ve read a lot of opinions from achievers and I could broadly sum it up to a structured way of working towards it. There are a lot of models of a structured way of achieving your dreams. However, Most of them include the points I like to  call GRAB. It’s an acronym I figured to make it easy to remember. Let’s dive into it right Away.

G – Goals

R – Research and refine

A – Avoid Distractions

B – Be Consistent

GOALS

Any activity without a goal is directionless. So having Goals is imperative, however is easily mistaken to be the end result alone. I relate Goals with a plan. With the end result in mind, one should set up long term and short term goals. An important aspect is breaking down large goals into smaller ones. This reduces the anxiety and keeps the motivation going. Think of milestones to keep a track of your progress. One should also account for the current situation or capabilities and set realistic goals to ensure they aren’t impossible. Focus should be on achieving the end result instead of bullying yourself and people around you. (A detailed guide is available at my blog “GOALS give you a life”)

RESEARCH & REFINE

With the boom in internet and online learning, gone are the days where knowledge was hard to find. Spend a good amount of time researching the tools, skills and support you need to attain your goals. However, always remember that there are multiple ways of doing a particular thing so choose what suits your ability and liking. The trending way doesn’t necessarily have to be your way if it doesn’t suit your style and abilities. Unfortunately, the online learning boom has also led to this confusion. Researching these might take some time, however, not impossible. Once you pick your aid, refine the way it integrates to your journey. (refer to my blog on Researching in today’s time)

AVOID DISTRACTIONS

Distractions have leveled up from just being scheduled telecasts of our favorite show on TV to instant boost of Dopamine through entertaining Reels. I’m sure a lot of us could relate to this statement. With the media using AI to grab your attention, we have to agree that it is difficult to keep our focus. However, let’s remind ourselves that the blame game is a loser’s trait. Scheduling an isolation time to work might be the simplest and most effective way to get rid of distractions. Trust me, an hour of isolation with complete disconnection from the world, doesn’t turn the world upside down. So just take this leap and build an hour of isolation time in your daily routine. (want some more ideas on this, read “The remedy to reconnect”)

BE CONSISTENT

Whatever robust plans you make and even ifServices it is fool-proof, the only way to achieve progress is by being consistent. Consistency is a level of discipline one maintains which reflects the determination and passion one holds for the Goals. Consistency not only makes it a habit, but also makes it a part of your life. It doesn’t necessarily refer to doing the same task everyday or working every day. Consistency refers to being regular and maintaining the same standards of work in each session. This is one of the dominant reasons why  a lot of people don’t see results even after putting in work regularly. They easily overlook the importance of the standards of efforts made. Staying true to your schedule and the level of work in each session is the most effective way to achieve your Goals.
